Who are we?

Like most developing companies, we have been on a wave of growth since our inception 11 years ago. Our departmental capabilities have mostly grown out of the expectation that the company would be THE "one-stop shop" in the displays and fabrication industry. We feel proud that even after all these years of learning and experience, we continue to be able to offer a quality product, with minimal turnaround times, at competitive prices.

Beginnings

1997 :

Our company was founded by Brian McDonald as his part-time ventures in acrylic fabrication and routing.

1999 :

Brian leaves his full-time job as a production controller with a local high-tech company, and begins working for himself, specializing in acrylic finished parts for the aircraft industry. Word of mouth spread the news of his quality work and competitive prices. Business steadily grows.

2000 :

In the spring of 2000, Brian and his wife, DeAnna, purchased property in Pleasant Hill. They built their own 2200 sq. ft shop to broaden the plan of developing Mac Industries into a regional player in custom fabrication. At this landmark, we partnered up with the locally-developed franchise Rapid Refill Ink to prototype and service the development of a recycling container system produced by plastic components and wrapped vinyl graphics. This introduced us to the displays industry.

2001 :

This is the year that we purchased our first laser engraver/cutter, primarily for the production of aircraft parts. It enabled the company to offer cut components in a variety of materials such as acrylic, thin-gauge steel, poly-styrene, and more. This small laser acquisition quickly leads to the purchase of another larger 4x8 laser cutter.

Growth & Development

2002 :

Growth continued on the business front with the purchase of a small engraving business. This acquisition allowed us to gain access to a broader customer base and increase capabilities to existing clients. We then opened up a second shop in Creswell, Oregon to supply parts for the fast-growing flat panel LCD market for Panasonic, where we made various mounting system components. A third small office in downtown Eugene was also opened to supply regular service for our local-retail customers.

2003 - 2004 :

At this point, we moved our production and offices to a single warehouse-facility in Springfield where we finally enjoyed having all of our 7500 sqft of capabilities under one roof.

The displays department of the company expanded as well, with the acquisition of a large flat-bed, solvent printer for the continued production of recycling containers for Rapid Refill Ink. This machine put Mac Industries on the map by expanding into large-format banner printing, tradeshow displays, and fleet graphics.

Our Art Department was also born in this process, by hiring a hand-full of graphic artists to work in collaboration with both the displays and fabrication departments, which also upgraded pre-press support with our client-generated projects.

Main Street Location

Expansion

2006 :

Only two years later, the company took another giant-leap in location to its present setting in the Hyland Business Park on Main Street in east Springfield. The location change was brought about by the purchase and acquisition of two new, and highly anticipated capabilities; CNC Routing and Waterjet Cutting technologies. This only continued to diversify the array of finished products the company could offer, and heightened the learning curves required by the staff to overcome. But within 6 months of this transition, all of the company's major departments were now functioning under one highly unified front.

2007 - 2008 :

Within these two years, we moved ahead to purchase a second flat-bed laser table to double production in plastics and sheet-metals, as well as purchasing the interests and skill of an applied graphics company local to the Eugene/Springfield area, which further enhanced our displays products and quality.

2009 :

Presently, we continue to mold and shape ourselves as a company. This spring, we have launched a more solidified focus to refine our Displays and Fabrication departments directly, and set aside our past capabilities in Design. We look forward to operating in a simplified fashion that continues to uphold our core products and services.
